Sim Si Lin

Senior Clinical Psychologist

“All people at any given point in time are doing the best they can.” – Marsha Linehan.

Si Lin holds the above quote dear as she seeks to uncover the stories that shape each individual. Having close to a decade of experience working in a multi-disciplinary team specialising in the mental health and emotional well-being of children and adolescents (the Response, Early intervention and Assessment in Community mental Health (REACH)), Si Lin has the advantage of being equipped to understand individuals holistically by working with different professionals, parents and stakeholders in the community. This invaluable experience has further cemented her belief and commitment in building the support networks of individuals.

In her previous experiences, Si Lin has employed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and other evidence-based approaches to partner children and adolescents in exploring their emotions and needs, address behavioural difficulties, and develop coping strategies for their challenges. She has offered guidance to parents, helping them navigate their children’s needs and developmental stages to create a nurturing and supportive home environment. She has further provided consultative support and conducted specialized training for school counsellors and special educational needs officers to enable them to support their students’ mental well-being effectively. This included pioneering a training workshop series on supporting children with Selective Mutism. For her dedication, Si Lin was awarded the NHG Teaching Excellence Awards in 2023 and the NHG Excellence in Action (Individual) Award in 2024.
