Sim Si Lin

Senior Clinical Psychologist

“All people at any given point in time are doing the best they can.” – Marsha Linehan.

Si Lin holds the above quote dear as she seeks to uncover the stories that shape each individual. Having more than a decade of experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, Si Lin has the advantage of being equipped to understand individuals holistically by working with different professionals, family members and stakeholders in the community.

In her last role in the Response, Early intervention and Assessment in Community mental Health (REACH) team, Si Lin had worked with children and adolescents, caring for their mental health and emotional well-being. Prior to this, Si Lin had also worked collaboratively with adults through their various life challenges and clinical conditions (e.g. mood and anxiety disorders). These invaluable experiences have further cemented her belief and commitment in building the internal and external support network of individuals to enable them to thrive.

In her previous experiences, Si Lin has employed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and other evidence-based approaches to partner adults, children and adolescents in exploring their emotions and needs, address relationship and behavioural difficulties, and develop coping strategies for their challenges. She has also offered guidance to parents, helping them navigate their children’s needs and developmental stages to create a nurturing and supportive home environment. She has further provided consultative support and conducted specialized training for school counsellors and special educational needs officers to enable them to support their students’ mental well-being effectively. This included pioneering a training workshop series on supporting children with Selective Mutism. For her dedication, Si Lin was awarded the NHG Teaching Excellence Awards in 2023 and the NHG Excellence in Action (Individual) Award in 2024.
